In April of 2019, Plenity, our first product, was FDA cleared as a prescription device for the largest number of adults struggling with overweight and obesity (BMI 25-40 kg/m2) of any prescription weight-management aid and the first that can be used, along with diet and exercise, in millions of overweight adults who have never before had prescription options

Plenity is breakthrough in weight management.  It is based on a non-systemic superabsorbent hydrogel platform made from naturally derived building blocks that makes people feel full to help them eat less.  Plenity has been proven effective and well tolerated in gold standard, double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trials conducted by leading weight management experts. The publication of the pivotal Gelesis100 Loss of Weight (GLOW) study in Obesity was among the top 10% of all downloaded publications from the journal in the following 12 months and is actively discussed at obesity society meetings.  For more information visit

Plenity is currently available on the market in limited release as we prepare for a national scale launch in2021.  The consumer directed Targeted Commercial Launch has gone exceptionally well.  While a small group of obesity specialists have access to Plenity in their practices now, HCP marketing has not yet begun but will in21.  There are two paths to a Plenity prescription; community-based HCPs and our telehealth partner.  This novel approach is both one of our three critical success factors and one of the more disruptive parts of an innovative Go-to-Market strategy.  To help bring this strategy to life and manage this important customer segment we’re searching for an entrepreneurial and solution-oriented individual to be the first marketer in the organization devoted to HCPs. This role requires both brand building and customer engagement skills.  In addition, the role necessitates both strong strategic skills and the ability to execute, the ability to influence others in the organization, and lead agency partners.   Key deliverable’s will be an HCP interpretation of the consumer brand architecture, the integration of both paths to a Plenity prescription, an omni-channel launch campaign, and a digitally resourced field force.   Ultimately, goals will be based on HCP brand awareness and perceptions, and prescribing volume.

Associate Director of HCP Marketing

The Associate Director of HCP Marketing is responsible for developing and executing the HCP marketing plan that supports the Plenity Go-to-Market strategy. The Associate Director is responsible for building the Plenity brand with HCPs and will define and manage resources for this customer segment.  He/she will report to Vice President of Marketing.

The right candidate will be a highly referenced HCP marketing professional, comfortable with rapid growth, possess both strategic and executional capabilities, and have a passion for disrupting well-entrenched markets and outdated go-to-market models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the HCP launch marketing strategy in support of the Plenity Go-to-Market model
  • Owner of insight development about the HCP customer
  • Develop and execute omnichannel engagement
  • Architect the Field Force engagement plan including both in office and virtual engagements and produce the digital assets that support them
  • Develop and execute the HCP measurement plan and capabilities, optimize strategy and execution accordingly.
  • Over time develop a segmented approach to HCP customers
  • Act as liaison to sales team
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs Team on HCP and OL engagement
  • Lead company/brand presence at congresses
  • Lead the approval process for all HCP promotional materials
  • Manage HCP budget
  • Partner with the Gelesis Consumer Marketing Team to integrate customer engagement strategies, messages and creative.

 Who are we looking for?

  • 8-10 years healthcare professional marketing in medical device or pharma spaces
  • Product launch experience required
  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources to create an actionable point of view and direction for a brand
  • Proven track record of influencing and leading cross functionally
  • Ability to influence and gain consensus from peers and management
  • Deep experience with omnichannel marketing
  • Experience with telehealth is a strong plus
  • Proven ability to partner with medical, legal, and regulatory review committees
  • Experience managing agency partners
  • Understanding of industry code of conduct and ethics
  • Start up experience preferred but not required
  • College degree; MBA preferred

  • Flexible: ability to operate in situations and organizations where direction is subject to change

Special Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel domestically; travel estimated at 10-20%
